Book Club
One of our primary means of fostering community is through facilitating intentionally small book clubs of six to eight people. Currently, these groups take place in the Fall and Spring each year and typically meet to discuss a single book for about five consecutive weeks via Zoom. We engage works by Black contemplative authors, such as Cole Arthur Riley, Barbara Holmes, Howard Thurman, and others. Occasionally, we also highlight the work of people from other ethnic, cultural, or spiritual backgrounds that might be of particular interest to this community. Even when we do not fully affirm the entirety of what an author may represent or promote, we still believe there is wisdom and insight to be gleaned through engaging in dialogue with their work.
In order to facilitate space for unrushed, prayerful reflection and discussion, space is limited in each group.
